Tarte Tartelette Amazonian Clay Matte Palette Review

Tarte Full paletteI’ve had my eye on this palette for many months now. Every time I would pop into Sephora or Ulta, I was magnetically drawn to this beauty. A palette filled with  twelve warm and cool neutral shades was bound to be mine. I finally caved in and bought the Tarte Tartlette Palette when I read the back of the box, and found it to be free of parabens, phthalates and mineral oil. It would be a stretch to call this an “all natural” makeup choice, but the absence of phthalates in particular makes me very happy.

Tarte back of boxAs for performance, the colors look just as pretty on the skin as they do in the palette. The texture is finely milled, soft and has very little fallout. I rarely have the time (or patience) to prime my eyes, but still found these shadows to hold up for 8 hours without noticeable creasing or fading without that step. I do find that primers make eyeshadows more vibrant, so if I want to intensify the look and have it last for 12 hours rather than 8, a primer would be of good use.

Tarte lightI’m still trying to perfect the art of photographing swatches, so I will refer you to this blog post from Chocolate and Lipstick in the meantime. She has terrific swatches of the Tartelette palette that are very true to life.

This would be such a wonderful holiday gift for any beauty lover on your list, especially those who enjoy the “no-makeup” makeup look. However, even for those of us who lean towards a natural face, the deep plum of bombshell and jet black of fashionista allow for a more dramatic, evening look. They also make wonderful eyeliners. Tarte closed
